Limbic Media

Art Against the Ordinary.

Finalist for:
Product of the Year

Interviewee: Justin Love

What’s your company’s story?

Limbic Media generated over 800K in revenues from its Aurora product in its first year (2018). Aurora is a powerful hardware and software-based platform that can take a variety of inputs such as music, motion sensors, gaming data, social media data and map them to a dynamic light show in real-time. Aurora has gained initial interest and traction in a number of segments including Malls and Retail, Amusement Parks and Family Entertainment Centres, Experiential Marketing, and Holiday Lighting with installations deployed across North America and Europe. Our first successful commercial application of the Aurora platform is a product called the Singing Tree. The Singing Tree uses Aurora technology to transform any tree or structure into an interactive installation that reacts to music and sounds in the immediate environment.

Who do you work with? What are some interesting projects you’re involved in?

We have the amazing fortune to work in an incredibly creative industry. Our clients have used interactive lighting to bring engagement and drive traffic to events and organizations like ESPN XGames, TED Conference, Etherium Conference, Summerfest, and Ceasar’s Entertainment Group. My current favorite project is with a Sanfransico based artist where we created a lighting control interface with 80 plants. During the performance audience members can manipulate lights by touching the plants.

What are you most proud of in the work that you do?

Getting to where we are at. We have an amazing product out in the world and we are gaining market traction every day. 98% of businesses fail before they get here, but the last 2% is really the hardest part!

If your team had a theme song, what would it be and why?

Any song by LED Zeppelin – think about it 😉

What are some hopes and dreams for your company?

To bring more interactivity, wonder, and engagement into everyday life.

Why is Victoria a great spot for your organization?

Victoria is literally one of the best places in the world to live. We kind of have it all here. The tech community here is also incredible – we would’t be where we are today without the support and mentorship we’ve been given over the years.
